Hello!

My name is Stefan Muñoz.

I’m a wedding photographer based out of Houston, Texas, and I’ve been photographing weddings since 2016.

My background is in music education, but after a few rocky years during my late twenties as a music teacher, I picked up a camera as a form of therapy.

I started out taking my camera everywhere, documenting my everyday life, and eventually being asked by friends and family to document important events in their lives. One thing led to another, and I eventually found myself in love with wedding photography.

My favorite thing about photographing weddings is the element of surprise that comes with each wedding. No two weddings are ever the same, keeping me on my toes, which I thoroughly enjoy.

My first camera was a Canon EOS 6D with a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 lens.

Eventually, I started experimenting with different brands, focal lengths, and lighting equipment, and after a while, I learned that less is more for me. The fewer options I have, the more my creative juices begin to flow.

So after years of trial and error, the following is the kit I use today and the one I’ve become pretty content with.

Canon EOS R6 – I have two of these, and they are hands down my favorite camera to date. Everything just works the way I want it to, and the autofocus is magic! Twenty megapixels is plenty for me to work with, especially for wedding photography, and overall, the camera just reads my mind and does what I need it to.

I still shoot on EF lenses adapted to my RF bodies. I prefer shooting with prime lenses as their limitations help me get creative.

Canon EF 24mm f/1.4 II – the perfect sidekick to my main lens (the 50mm) and a great lens for small spaces or dancefloor shots. It’s sharp, versatile, and about as wide as I ever like to go for weddings.

Canon EF 35mm f/1.4 I – an oldie but a goodie! I love using this lens alongside my 85mm during ceremonies. It’s also great for family formals or wide shots where I don’t want as much distortion in the image.

Canon EF 50mm f/1.2 – this is my absolute favorite lens! If I were forced to only have one lens at all times, it would definitely be this one. I know there’s a new fancy RF version of the lens, but this one just has that special “je ne sais quoi.”

Canon EF 85mm f/1.4 IS – my go-to lens for portraits. I especially love using this to isolate subjects during speeches and toasts.

Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 IS – and just in case I get pinned at the back of a church, I always have this one handy.

Godox AD200 – this portable flash is useful for portraits or on the dancefloor if I need just a little extra light.

Godox 860 II – I use a few of these as my off-camera flash to light up reception halls and dimly lit ceremony spaces. I also use them as backups if my on-camera flash goes down.

Godox V1-C – this is an amazing little flash for the price, which I use on-camera.

Billingham Hadley Pro 2020 – I absolutely love this bag for carrying around extra lenses and lights on the wedding day.

Nanuk 935 Hard Case – this is what I use to lug around all of my gear. Just a great hard case at a reasonable price!

Holdfast Money Maker Dual Camera Harness – one of my favorite pieces of kit that I own. Since I shoot primes throughout the day, it’s nice to have access to both bodies with different focal lengths.

Clever Supply Co Adjustable Camera Strap – this is my main strap if I’m going down to a single camera and lens. It’s sleek and stylish while also being super practical.

In regards to software, I have used Lightroom and Photoshop as part of my workflow for years and don’t see myself switching to anything else anytime soon.

Recently, I’ve started playing around with Imagen AI for editing my wedding galleries, and it’s amazing how much this cuts down my workflow.

Lastly, I use Pic-Time to deliver my galleries to my clients. It’s very convenient for my clients to be able to download their full gallery with the click of a button, but Pic-Time also has a built-in print shop that gives my couples and families the option to purchase physical prints and albums to their heart’s content.

I’m so very thankful to work in the wedding industry. I have made many friends and mentors over the years, and I look forward to meeting and collaborating with awesome couples for many years to come!
