I’m an engineer who chose stock trading as his first profession, went on to get a master’s degree in business and managed corporate treasury before becoming a photographer. Weddings came naturally to me as I love meeting new people and photographing human subjects.

I run a company that specializes in destination wedding photography and films. We are heavy on the tech (something that the engineer in me loves) but yet very thrifty when it comes to adding new gear to our kit. I started as a Canon photographer and switched to Nikon midway. Now we also use Sony mirrorless systems. Having top notch gear is critical for us but making sure we are extracting the maximum value from it is equally important.

Coming to the specifics, our go-to photo camera is Nikon D750. Back when it was introduced it was one of the few full frame cameras to have a tilt LCD, that was a major advantage. It is priced amazingly well for the feature set it offers. It supports Wifi and dual SD cards, both are features which we actively use.

In video, I’ve been a Sony mirrorless series user since the original a7s was introduced three years ago. These cameras have excellent low light performance, something that is a must since wedding videos are shot with available light. They have flat camera profiles that give fine control in grading. They are extremely light weight. Also, the Sony mount being the smallest of the most popular mounts allows mounting of a lot of lenses from other companies that makes for interesting results.

We also have a DJI Mavic drone for aerial cinematography and photography. It is the right balance between size and features. Being small allows it to be used more often than bigger drones and we are able to get interesting perspectives.

Another frequently used item for us is MagMod. We love using OCF and this has been a game changer. It allows us to be agile and adds a whole lot of fun to flash photography.
