Hi, my name is Fabien Voileau and I am a surf & lifestyle photographer based between Auckland, New Zealand and Paris, France.

More than a photographer, I am a nature lover and a part of the Change Makers Community supported by Patagonia. I started to shoot underwater 5 years ago with a Nikonos 5 / with 35mm film. Not really easy, but I learned a lot from it. My gear kit has since been updated of course : ).

Canon 5D Mark IV – Super fast and reactive camera, perfect to shoot action shots with. A bit heavy but whatever, I’m so used to shooting with the 5D series from Canon that I change my settings without having to look at the camera, and the main thing is to shoot with a camera that we know more than very well.

Sigma Art 35mm f/1.4 – My favorite lens for all conditions. I can shoot super close like 3 feet and sometimes far enough to shoot something really different.

Sigma Art 24mm f/1.4 – I like using this for wide, underwater shots.

Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 L – I use this most of the time to shoot from land, and I do different frame construction with tree or whatever.

Aquatech water housing ELITE for 5D Mark IV – Perfect gear to shoot in the water with and to get access to your settings. It’s super important to get access to the aperture and shutter speed.
It’s also super safe.
